9 Soon-to-be Classic Motorcycles Our Experts Advise to Invest In Right Now

Posted on

It’s no secret that classic motorcycles can be lucrative investments, but where do you begin? Our motorcycle auctioneer, John Searle, recommends investing in motorcycles that have high potential to become classics. One of the biggest advantages in investing in these motorcycles is that no more will be made and, as with most things produced in limited editions, value will only increase with time. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but if you can get your hands on one of these 9, you’ll be off to a good start…

9. Yamaha XTZ 600 Ténéré

This one’s a real off-road classic with a simple concept, beautiful execution and a great history – the 600 cc Ténéré’ guarantees a great deal of off-road pleasure. It rides just like you’re in Dakar, and that image is what made these motorcycles so popular. The models to invest in are the ones from between 1984 and 1988 with the high mudguards, single headlights and typical Yamaha colour schemes at the time: blue with white and yellow or white with red.

Our experts expect the value of this model to increase by around 146% over the next 10 years.

8. Suzuki GSX1100 Katana

Making its first appearance in the 80s, the GSX1100 Katana is still a motorcycle that speaks to the imagination – the design was revolutionary at the time. There were various versions of the Katana, but the 1100 remains the most evocative model. Suzuki built other versions in the same style with the same name, but the original is the best investment.

Our experts expect the value of this model to increase by around 176% over the next 10 years.

7. Honda CBR900RR Fireblade 1992

The CBR900RR reshaped the landscape of motorsports just like the CB750 did 23 years earlier. Our experts recommend investing in a Fireblade in original condition to save money in the long run. Because Honda only makes parts available for 20 years, any parts that need replacing will only become more difficult to find and more expensive.

Our experts expect the value of this model to increase by around 176% over the next 10 years.
